*Just Living my Life*

I went out this weekend for a little bit so I actually had a reason to put on some makeup. Courtney and I went to a release party for 954 Magazine here in Broward. It was an all white party but I wasn't in the festive mood and wore black! Such a rebel I am! LoL I did a simple black gray and silver smokey eye, with a light pink lip and pink blush.

What I used:

Sorry couldn't resist! LoL

I also finally got a moment to snap a photo of
me and our new baby *Tonka* together!!

He is soooo adorable and I LOVE him so much... definitely lets me know I'm not ready for a real baby yet though a puppy is enough for me... for now I will just live vicariously through all my friends beautiful babies!! Waking up early as hell because he has to go out hasn't been the fun part but it's part of the territory of raising a puppy!

He's so Precious!

Who Doesn't Love Carrot Cake

>> Saturday, August 22, 2009

Mini Carrot Cake Cups- Cream Cheese Frosting, arguably the best part about carrot cake, is a key player in these miniature homestyle treats.

Okay aside from make up, clothes, decorating, and being fabulous I LOVE to cook!!! I told you.... The next Martha Stuart. I recently tried something new in my baking ventures and they were SOOO good I decided to share them with you all. I did a little mini photo tutorial to show you how I made them. For those you who don't know I am a Independent Sales Consultant with the Pampered Chef so all of the Products I'm using to make this are Pampered Chef stuff, which I adore!! If you are interested in buying anything or want to know how you can get it for FREE or 1/2 Price just email me at CookWithKatie@gmail.com.

The Recipe:

1 pkg (9 oz/250 g) yellow cake mix
1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) allspice
1 egg
2 tbsp (30 mL) vegetable oil
2 medium carrots, peeled, divided

Filling & Garnish
6 oz (175 g) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup (175 mL) powdered sugar
1/2 cup (125 mL) thawed frozen whipped topping
Chopped walnuts (optional)

Start by Preheating the over to 350°

Coat Mini Muffin Pan with Cooking Spray or a little butter on a Paper Towel

Combine cake mix, allspice, egg, and oil and stir
Mixture will be VERY thick!!!

After mixed well grate one whole peeled carrot and combine with batter

Fill wells of mini muffin man 2/3 of the way full
Bake in the over for 11-13 minutes

:For Icing:

Whisk together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth; fold in whipped topping. Spoon cream cheese mixture into zip-lock plastic bag; secure bag and set aside.

As soon as they come out of the oven you need to make the cups as seen above. To do this use a tart shaper and mike slight indentations into the mini muffins.

Once you are done let them cool for about 10 minutes in the pan.

Remove all the cups from the pan, they should come right out with no effort
(Especially if you are using Pampered Chef)

::::It should look like this::::
To Garnish:
Garnish cups with chopped walnuts and reserved grated carrots

Put them on a Bamboo platter to make them look even MORE yummy!!

These yummy little carrot cakes are GREAT for holiday entertaining, people usually stay away from it because the cream cheese icing is so fattening, but these little bite size morsels are the PERFECT size to endulge in these YUMMY treats! I have made them twice now and still have more request to make them again. They are simple, fast, and taste soooo good! Let me know if you have any questions or if you make them yourself let me know how they turn out!!

MAC Goodies & Shopping Spree!!

>> Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Hello my lovely smarties!! Like I told you in my last post I went shopping over the weekend... I'd thought I'd share all the wonderful deals I got...and their were MANY.... this post is VERY picture heavy so I hope you enjoy....

Ps... I have to say I am SO excited to be blogging and have somewhere to share all the new clothes I get, beauty products I find/ love/ dislike.... I know that my boyfriend is happy too.... he gets tired of my coming home and saying "omg look at this new lipstick, isn't it SO pretty" he just doesn't share my excitement! LoL I'm sure some of you ladies can relate.

From MAC I picked up the Fresh Cut e/s Palette from the Graphic Garden Collection, I have been wanting this since it came out, it took me like 10 min to decide because I liked both of them so much. And I also go a new bottle of MAC brush cleaner... I have head and read many tips on the best way to use this stuff without wasting it all... Any helpful tips you ladies can give me would be GREAT!

The Pretty Box (I love anything black & white)
The Hologram changes from the pattern on the box to this
...I also did some serious damage at NY& Company...
They were having a buy one get one FREE sale on ALL their jeans!
(I got 3 because my mom-n-law gave me one of her free pairs because she already had like 8)

On top of the buy one get one free I had a coupon where if you
$150 you get $60 off, so I really only spent $90!

I got a long pink skirt and two baby doll dresses, one in black, and one in teal (because I couldn't decide between the two) They are a little plain so I got two thick waist belts to dress them up. The dresses didn't have much hanger appeal but look SO cute on. Here are the belts, (you can see the teal color in the background of the gray belt).

Some new summery sandals

In south Florida they just recently started opening Kohl's, the one by me has been open for a while now (almost a year) and I've NEVER been. Well I'm kinda sorry that I went because now I want to go back ALL the time. It doesn't look like your typical outlet store, everything was very organized and they had EVERYTHING there. I bought a new area rug for my living room which you can see on the pics of my sandals. From there I just got two more dresses... and they were so discounted... I got each other them for $14, I know I'm such a bargin shopper.

Black and White Long Summer Dress

Pink and blue and teal dress
(Can't wait to do e/s look to go with this)

Well that's all!!! I can't wait to have somewhere to go to wear all my new stuff!! YAY!!!

Until next time,

*Cocktail Smarty*

ICING by Claire's

>> Sunday, August 16, 2009

Okay as I was traipsing through the mall today I was waiting for my mother-n-law to meet up with me, I walked into to the accessory store ICING (you know it's just like Claire's) I have outgrown most of the jewelry in there but everyone in awhile I find a cute headband or some studs, ANYWAYS.... they have a whole section of makeup, different palettes and stuff... they were all open so I was able to try some of the colors out and WOAH I was impressed... I ended up buying this palette... it was only $16:

:::Here are some close ups so you can better see the colors:::

(^^^Swatches of 3 bottom colors^^^)

You will be amazed by the color pay off... I only swatched 3 colors
The Pink, Green, and Blue from the 2nd close up shot.

The only bad thing that I noticed is that they seem like they may powder easy... I will post a look as soon as I use them, but I can't wait... the colors are SO pretty!! I found their website, but on the site their beauty section is kinda wack... they don't even have this palette on here. But in case you want to check it out here it is: Icing by Claire's

Their makeup was buy one get one half off... so you know I couldn't let that go to waste I also picked up a Shimmering Bronzer Palette and after the 1/2 off it was only $4.

This thing is HUGE, it baarrely fit in my hand

E.L.F Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick

So I purchased four of the E.L.F. (Eyes.Lips.Face) Mineral Lipstick from their HUGE 75% percent off sale. [[Use Code: GETLIP]] They were only like 1.25 a piece and I have used them a few times now and I must say.......

They have great color payoff, especially for being a mineral lipstick. They look best with lip gloss on top, but I put lip gloss on top of EVERY lipstick so that's not a negative as far as I'm concerned.

What they claim:

Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft color naturally! This nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturizing formula. The sleek lipstick has superior color payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. Lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day for no fuss, lip loving happiness. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.

Here are the four colors that I got:

From Left to Right: Natural Nymph, Runway Pink, Nicely Nude, Royal Red

And here are the swatches:

(Sorry the pic is so blurry) eek!

I also purchased some lashes, nail polish, and a few brushes... I haven't had a chance to use them yet but I will let you know what I think of them once I do. Until them stay *Smart*

Welcome to Mi Casa

Hello my lovelies! Well as I said in my last post, I thought I'd share my humble little home (apartment). I am a very crafty and creative person, as well as my boyfriend (he is a graphic web designer). When we moved in together last year it was obvious that we weren't going to leave the walls of our apt a drab white! We never actually completely finished decorating, but we made some progress, and all in all I think we have a pretty cute and cozy place, especially for our first place *together*. We both LOVE anything modern, but the only problem is Modern=Expensive. Anyways here is it.... our *Home Sweet Home*

These are my home made creation... The PILLOWS! Yes... it is true, ya girl can kill it on a sewing machine, thanks to my grandma! (Except the one in the middle)

We are about to renew our lease, but still deciding if we want to upgrade to a bigger place. We outgrew our little 1 bedroom apt the day we moved in, but we are TRYING to save money so we aren't sure yet.

So this is where I sit and relax at the end of a hard day (which seems to be everyday) What do you think??
